Tossing Pebbles in the Stream

This blog is my place to sit and toss pebbles into the stream. The stream of Life relentlessly passing before us. We can affect it little. For the most part I just watch it passing and follow the flow. Occasionally, I need to comment on its passing, tossing a pebble at it to enjoy the ripple affect upon Life's surface.

Happy New Year

Hearing the New Year's Greeting in 32 languages is interesting and a reminder of the rich diversity of human society. This is just a fraction of the cultures represented by their language.

Sadly, many languages round the World are under threat of extinction. Human society's diversty and richness is forever diminished with each lost language. The very way the World is experienced and interpreted with understand uniquely in a language is lost.

I read an article recently about a woman who died--she was the last speaker of one of those dying languages. The article then said that 10 languages die every year.

Interesting to hear it in all those languages!

I enjoyed reading about your trip to southern Ontario! Sounds like it was very nice, and your sister is a lovely lady.

Happy New Year!!!
