Tossing Pebbles in the Stream

This blog is my place to sit and toss pebbles into the stream. The stream of Life relentlessly passing before us. We can affect it little. For the most part I just watch it passing and follow the flow. Occasionally, I need to comment on its passing, tossing a pebble at it to enjoy the ripple affect upon Life's surface.

June 2, 1953 The Coronation

It  has been sixty years since I watched the Coronation on TV.  Could I be getting old?  It is interesting to revisit the CBC's broadcast on that occasion to seem the personalities of the day and be reminded of the social changes since then.  The Queen!  Well she carries on  with dignity and a life of service.

(Sorry for the commercials, somehow they seem inappropriate on this CBC archive. It  the run the one on the F-35 jet, the government has jumped the gun on this as they have been forced to reconsider the purchase and process.)

  God Save the Queen!

I was in, I guess, 5th grade and we watched the coronation on TV at school. I guess I'm getting old, too.

Well, I am not going to watch the video right now, but I want to say that if you watched this 60 years ago, you were a pretty privileged family. I don't know when we got our first tv -- not before 1957 for sure and perhaps as late as 1959.

A queen to be proud of.... Indeed. I was 12 and remember the event.

She has performed her duties with grace and dignity, Philip. Her parents taught her well.
