Tossing Pebbles in the Stream

This blog is my place to sit and toss pebbles into the stream. The stream of Life relentlessly passing before us. We can affect it little. For the most part I just watch it passing and follow the flow. Occasionally, I need to comment on its passing, tossing a pebble at it to enjoy the ripple affect upon Life's surface.

Happiness is. . . . . .

A new clothes line.???

Not one but two!

Veronica is thrilled. I used to think to thrill a woman I have to take her out to dinner and the theatre. I didn't know two clothes lines with enough space to take in laundry if necessary would thrill anyone. V has never had a line that reels the laundry out and back. Makes me wonder how the dry their clothes in Florida if they want them to smell so fresh, sun dried! ( or freeze dried in the Winter). Do they forego this simple life pleasure using only electrical dryers??????

I had to built a balcony to stand on to hang the laundry out. This is a short term solution as I have dreams of building a porch across the back of the house (in the by and by). The previous porch I tore down jusr before the fire. . . damn! Otherwise. the insurance would have paid for a new one.

I may use the balcony to practice preaching or giving political speeches to my yard full of animals.

Oops, where did this picture come from??? Some of my older chickens having a picnic on the grass. The new laying flock came in the crates in the background and were locked in the hen house for a couple of day until they accept it as home. Posted by Picasa

"America, America. . "

We flew the American flag today in honour of the American visions we have admired over the years. Also, it is for Veronica who loves her country and has seen several of her relatives service it in the military.

Happy Fourth of July, Cousins

Jacquie Lawson e-cards

Click on the dove for Old Glory!

This day of reflection on the meaning and vision of the American republic, all would be wise to read some of the shapers of the Nation.

Jefferson last public reflections of what he and others had created are worthy of our reflection.

May (July 4) be to the world, what I believe it will be -- to some parts sooner, to others later, but finally to all -- the signal of arousing men to burst the chains under which monkish ignorance and superstition had persuaded them to bind themselves, and to assume the blessings and security of self-government. That form (of government) which we have substituted, restores the free right to the unbounded exercise of reason and freedom of opinion. All eyes are opened, or opening, to the rights of man. The general spread of the light of science has already laid open to every view the palpable truth, that the mass of mankind has not been born with saddles on their backs, nor a favored few booted and spurred, ready to ride them legitimately, by the grace of God. These are grounds of hope for others. For ourselves, let the annual return of this day forever refresh our recollections of these rights, and an undiminished devotion to them.

It is long past due that the political self correction of the American political system moves to correct the aberrant autocratic government, with illegal imperial designs on the World and destruction of civil and political liberties at home, become once again the Light of hope and idealism for for which it has been so admired in the past.

I am not without optimism on this fourth of July.
